Shimmery Pink Sympathy Card…

by ministamper

Trees are easy, they can be used on a card for almost any occasion (Ok, maybe not a first birthday card, unless it was the cartoon type with a monkey hanging from it), but for this, a simple Sympathy Card, it looks serene.

I read recently that it’s not common practice for people to pre-buy Sympathy Cards like they do with Birthday Cards, but most stampers I know always have a gorgeous Sympathy Card ready made in the event they (or a friend needs one).

For this card, I have made my own spectrum ink pad (see my Winter Trees post for more details), and have rubbed over the whole mat with Stampin’ Up! Champagne Mist (tip of the day… wait until it’s completely dry before rubbing over it…) I then dabbed small amount of Two Way Glue on the leaves and sprinkled with Stampin’ Up! Dazzling Diamonds.

Oh, and before I forget, I used the glossy again… told you…

Does this close up picture show the shimmer a bit better?

Winter Trees…

by ministamper

I have found a new love, Stampin’ Up! Glossy White Cardstock… you will see in a lot of my January posts the Glossy White Cardstock features regularly, I didn’t realise just how nice it is, and, easy to use for certain techniques until recently, I have used it so much I just ordered another 2 packs (I daren’t run out… LOL…)

This is a lovely winter style card, and I have used a technique where I made my own spectrum ink pad, spectrum ink pads are a variety of colours in one pad which creates a rainbow effect when you stamp/brayer your paper. When you buy pre-made spectrum ink pads you are limited to the colours that are in it, by making your own you can choose as many or as little colours as you like.

You can make your own spectrum ink pad with various Stampin’ Up! products and you will not believe how easy and effective this technique is, host a workshop and I will show you how.

Doesn’ t this picture make you want to sit in front of a log fire with a hot cup of cocoa, not likely with the weather in Perth at the moment… LOL… I just got out of the pool.

JAI35 – Theme Challenge – Just Add Sympathy

by ministamper

This weeks challenge from the Just Add Ink girls was easier than last weeks, as there were no design or colour restrictions. The challenge this week was to make a Sympathy Card, I always like to have a  Sympathy Card on hand, incase I don’t have the time (or the energy) to make a nice card when I hear of a loss.

I usually leave the inside blank to write a message, or print up a message when I am ready to send it, then stick it to the inside of the card.

Another thing I have done for years is make a pocket in the back page of the card and insert a laminated bookmark of ‘The Serenity Prayer’, this adds a nice personal touch, and, although it is not my intention, I always get a call from the receiver telling me about the lovely card they got from ‘me’, some people have received hundreds of Sympathy Cards yet they always remember mine, because a) it’s handmade or b) the bookmark

This is my entry:
